Analysis of Collided Signal Waveform on the Long Transmission Line of UART-CSMA/CD Control Network

چکیده
In this paper, waveforms of collided digital signal bits are analyzed by superposition of step responses of a distributed constant circuit for a transmission line. Our analysis indicates narrow voltage spike on the leading edge of bit pulses in collided waveforms. The width and peak of the spike calculated by our analysis were matched with those of experiments. Since the spike might cause signal collision detection failure and cause deterioration of communication performance, our analysis is effective to estimate the allowable maximum length and/or bit rate of a transmission line for control communication network.

Improving Long Run Marginal Cost based Pricing along with Extended Benefit Factor method for Revenue Reconciliation of Transmission Network in Restructured Power System
Abstract : There are several methods to cover the costs of a transmission system and distribution networks. These methods are divided into either incremental or marginal approaches, which can be either long-term or short-term. The main difference between the incremental and marginal approach is how to calculate the cost of using the network. In the incremental approach, simulation and in the ma...

The IEEE 802.3 and 802.11 standards are used to define CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) based on the Ethernet LAN (Local Area Networks) and Wireless LAN (WLAN) protocol, respectively. This report deals with the comparison of IEEE 802.3 and IEEE802.11 MAC protocol in terms of the physical and medium access control (MAC) layer. CSMA/CD Ethernet-based protocol is th...
متن کاملPrediction Efficiency in Predictive p-CSMA/CD
Predictive p-persistent CSMA protocol is an important MAC solution developed for networked sensor/control applications and used in Local Operating Networks (LonWorks) technology. The protocol uses a built-in network load prediction to support collision avoidance. The paper presents an analytical study of prediction efficiency for a channel with collision detection. The approach based on Markov ...
متن کاملFully Distributed Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of an Improved Non-Uniform Traveling Wave Structure
Modeling and simulation of communication circuits at high frequency are important challenges ahead in the design and construction of these circuits. Knowing the fact that the lumped element model is not valid at high frequency, distributed analysis is presented based on active and passive transmission lines theory. In this paper, a lossy transmission line model of traveling wave switch (TWSW) i...
متن کاملProbabilistic Model Checking of the CSMA/CD Protocol Using PRISM and APMC
Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) is the protocol for carrier transmission access in Ethernet networks (international standard IEEE 802.3). On Ethernet, any Network Interface Card (NIC) can try to send a packet in a channel at any time. If another NIC tries to send a packet at the same time, a collision is said to occur and the packets are discarded. The CSMA/CD protoc...
